Way back in 1974, Aram Neserian opened Power Source Gym in Burbank, CA. By 1979 it had “grown” into a 900sf gym that had a single bathroom and one window. It was accessible by invitation only and was created for serious bodybuilders that had little other choice than to drive down to Venice to train at the original Gold’s Gym at the time. In the early 1980’s Eric Campbell was fortunate to get an invite and as a teenager had the good fortune of being mentored in bodybuilding techniques by various competitive strongmen, bodybuilders, and professional wrestlers. Around 1985 Aram was able to expand to a 12,000sf warehouse and limited his membership to only those that wanted a place to train and not a place to be seen. Fast forward to around 2015 and Eric and Aram crossed paths at a local LA Fitness and reconnected. Aram has since passed away and as Eric and his partners developed the concept of opening an old-school gym it was decided to name the business PowerSource Barbell Club in Aram’s honor.
